[Resolved] Node1 – Storage Issue

We have seen a few cases of storage issues on Node1, where volumes are not detached from VMs correctly when rebooting. This causes the VM to fail starting as the volume is still in use.

We will be rebooting shortly to apply a fix, and will ensure all VMs are started back up.

Update: This is now completed, and testing has confirmed there are no further issues.

[Resolved] Node2 – Memory Fault

Node2 has a failing memory module, there has been no impact yet since we use ECC memory and errors have been corrected, however the server is at risk until this is replaced.

We will be shutting down all VPS and replacing the faulty module at 20:00 BST 06/04/2023. An update will be provided here once complete.

Update: This is now completed

[Complete] VPS Maintenance 2022-04-01

We are currently applying security updates to our VPS infrastructure which will cause VPS to be rebooted.

It is likely that some VPS will perform an automated fsck (Filesystem check) on startup, due to the amount of time since the previous check. This may cause a delay in your VPS completing the boot process.

A further update will be provided when maintenance is completed.

Update: Maintenance is now completed. The Xen security updates in this patch no longer allow VPS running outdated 32-bit kernels to boot. As a temporary workaround we have added a 5.4 kernel inside affected VPS, and ensured they are responding to ping. If you were affected you should make arrangements to reinstall to a newer, supported Linux distribution. Thank You.

[Resolved] node1 down

We are aware that node1.pcsmartgroup.com is currently down, the server is showing no link on the network interfaces so we suspect a switch/cable issue. We are contacting the datacentre and will provide updates ASAP.

Update: We are waiting for remote hands to check the server.

Update 2: This was caused by a fault Network Cable which has been replaced.

[Completed] Web1 – Shared/Reseller Server

web1.cpservers.info is currently having some intermittent timeout issues due to a sophisticated peice of malware which goes after the Apache binary.

This malware takes control of httpd and inserts code to interrupt or redirect requests, for the last few days we have been mitigating the symptoms as best as possible.

We believe this has come across on a recent migration from another server, and as it’s incredibly difficult to pinpoint we will be reinstalling the system to ensure its fully removed. There is no risk to the security of individual accounts or the integrity of your data.

21/01/14 20:15 – We started generating a new backup set containing all account data at approx 6.30PM, and there are now only around 15% of accounts remaining. Assuming this completes within the next 45-60mins we will be proceeding with the reinstall.

21/01/14 20:47 – Backup completed, reinstall in progress.

21/01/14 21:26 – cPanel install is now well underway, should be approx 45mins then we can begin account restoration.

21/01/14 22:37 – The server has now been fully configured, and account restorations have been running for around 30mins. It will take several hours for all accounts to restore.

22/01/14 18:09 – Restores have almost completed, unfortunately this has taken a while as cPanel’s new backup system will only restore accounts one by one on a queue based system. The majority of clients should already be up at this point.

Restoration has been completed.
